Islamabad problems

Published December 23, 2013

MANY students migrate from their rural and urban areas to the twin cities to seek admission to educational institutions. Many get admission and decide to stay at private hostels. Private hostels are facing numerous problems. They are unsafe because of insufficient security and probability of robbery and theft. These resident students might also be ideal target for criminal activities. According to crime records, the majority of theft and robbery cases is registered by students living in private hostels. Such an insecure environment has created fear among students.

Food and water provided to hostels are not hygienic. As there are no checks and balances in private hostels, students cannot concentrate on their studies in such an unhealthy environment. Illegal activities such as gambling, drinking, etc., thrive within the hostel environs which adversely affect academics.

The authorities concerned should construct government hostels for students and provide a healthy and wholesome environment.
