KARACHI, Dec 13: The prestigious Chief of the Naval Staff International Squash Championship will be held here at the Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex from Dec 16 to 23, under the auspices of Pakistan Navy.

Commodore Saeed Ahmed, Commandant PNS Karsaz, while addressing a news conference here, praised the Chief of Naval Staff, Commander Karachi and the Pakistan Squash Federation for keeping alive the tradition of holding high-profile squash events in the city.

Saeed said that the event will be conducted in four rounds which include pre-qualifiers, qualifiers, main rounds and the finals. The pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds will be played from Dec 16 to 19 while the main rounds will be held on Dec 20 with the final set for Dec 23.

The prize money for the championship is US$15,000. Top seeded players including Nasir Iqbal, Farhan Zaman, Aamir Atlas Khan, Danish Atlas Khan will be among the participants.

Besides the Pakistanis, contestants from the UAE, US and Nigeria will also be competing for the title.—PPI
