QUETTA, Nov 25: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Monday expressed anger over the performance of the National Highway Authority in the province and said the “issue of negligence” by the NHA in implementing various projects would be taken with the prime minister.

Addressing a press conference at which a women’s lawyers group joined Mr Baloch’s National Party, the chief minister said he had already sent a letter to the prime minister over the performance of the NHA.

He said the problem of transmission lines would also be taken up with the prime minister, adding that without building new transmission lines Balochistan could not benefit from new power projects being planned in the country.

The lawyers’ group headed by Sabira Ikram and comprising Sumera Shahwani, Misbah Iram, Rukhsana Baloch, Samina Baloch, Afshan Baloch and Ms Kehkashan announced joining the National Party on the occasion.

Ms Sabira said they had joined the NP as they believed the party’s leadership was taking practical measures to promote education and curb corruption.
