MARDAN, Nov 23: An old enmity claimed lives of two teenage girls Katlang tehsil here on Saturday.

The Katlang police registered cross FIRs after the clash between the rival groups.

The police said that accused identified as Azizullah, Saeedullah and Yaseen gunned down 18-year old daughter of Ameer Hussain in Mian Khan locality.

“In retaliatory firing, Umar Hayat and Aftab of the rival group shot dead 14-year old daughter of Hakeem Khan,” said an official.

According to the preliminary investigation, the two groups were running an old enmity. The police, however, had not arrested any of the accused till filing of the report.

PAK, THAILAND TIES: Pakistan and Thailand are enjoying good and cordial relations, which will help further improve economic ties between the two countries in future.

This was stated by Malik Tawab Khan, former president of Thai Pakistan Friendship Association (Sumakom) and representative of Thai King for Muslims, while addressing a reception here on Saturday.

Members of Sumakom Abdur Razzaq and Bakhtyar Khan were also in attendance.

Mr Tawab said Pakistani expatriates in Thailand were playing very positive role in strengthening the Thai economy.

He said under the dynamic leadership of Thai King and his government, Thailand was on way to progress and prosperity.

He maintained that the Thai government was taking keen interest in the welfare of Muslim community in Thailand.

Referring to the Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to Thailand, he said the visit would further cement the friendly ties.

STRIKE CALLED OFF: All Pakistan Lady Health Workers Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday called off its ongoing boycott of polio campaign.

The association’s provincial president Saeeda Feroz told a press conference here that boycott was ended after successful talks with the provincial health minister and other concerned officials on November 20.

She was flanked by provincial general secretary Kausar Jabeen, Mardan district president Sharukh Bibi, finance secretary Iltaza Bibi and others.

Ms Feroz said the provincial health minister Shukat Yousafzai and DG health assured them to fulfill their demands within three months.

She said the demands included issuance of notification of lady health workers’ regularisation, timely payment of salaries, reinstatement of terminated LHWs and provision of foolproof security to them during anti-polio drives.

She threatened to launch an aggressive anti-government protest movement if their demands were not met within three months.
