PESHAWAR: At least 32 suspects were arrested during a search operation in different areas of Peshawar on Monday, DawnNews reported.

Mathra, Khazana and Daudzai police conducted the operation in different areas of Peshawar and arrested 32 suspects. During the raids, 1 Kalashnikov, 30 calibres, 30 rifles, one 7mm rifle and a huge quantity of bullets were recovered from the suspects.

Police have also registered a case against the suspects.

Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lies on the edge of Pakistan's tribal areas which have been labelled by Washington as the main sanctuary for Al Qaeda and Taliban militants in the country.

The city has seen frequent attacks by militants in the past few years, with targets ranging from civilians to policemen and other law enforcement personnel.
