GUJRANWALA: A four-year old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.
The minor girl, daughter of a farmer called Imran, is the resident of a small village near Gujranwala.
The alleged accused Waseem took the little girl to nearby fields and assaulted her.
Upon hearing her screams, people from the area reached the spot. However, the accused managed to flee.
Meanwhile, the child was taken to District Headquarter Hospital Gujranwala where she is currently under-treatment.
The country has seen an increase in rape and child abuse cases over the years.
Earlier this month, the rape of a five-year old girl shocked the nation and was widely condemned.
Despite the passage of almost 2 weeks, police has been unable to trace any of the culprits involved in the heinous crime.

These men are animals not humans. They should be given examplary puinshment. Parents of the accused rapist should be given punishemnt as well.

Such incidents are now being reported regularly in press but there must be many more gone unreported in police and news media. This indicated serious illness of the society and Pakistan. Beside taking police action under the law the problem needs to be looked into by our psychologists and social workers. What derives young men to this madness. Is it environment around him, or poverty or his inability to get married.

This is why Taliban is becoming more acceptable, the Police, the civil administration, the government and most of all, the Society as a whole is failing to put a check on crimes. The attitude is 'As long as it did not happen to me or my loved one', I do not give a damn. No citizen of Pakistan cares, and even if one do care, there is no protection to keep them safe from the very element committing the crime. Eventually Taliban will come and hang a couple of them in the streets and then the whole society will be at calm.

I dont think there has been an increase in rape. Its just that people are now finding courage to accept the fact that its not the victim's fault and are reporting such incidents.
Note to Dawn editors, please do not print the names of victim's family members. It is just an ethical thing to do.

The culprit who assaulted the minor girls should be given death penalty. Nevertheless, the Pakistani medias and newspapers publishing such news are doing not a lesser damage to the
very moral and social fabric and young generation at large. I surprise that they can not comprehend
the adverse effects on the minds and moral of children and youths by publishing such news about minors just for their petty commercial benefits.
