MQM's Nadeem Hashmi sent on week long physical remand

KARACHI: An anti-terrorist court in Karachi on Thursday ordered a seven-day-long physical remand of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker Nadeem Hashmi who was earlier arrested on murder and terror charges over the killing of two policemen.
Hashmi, in charge of the MQM’s North Nazimabad unit, was handed over to the police following the order of the ATC.
The former lawmaker was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Tuesday killing of two policemen in a North Nazimabad locality.
He was apprehended in a raid on his house in North Nazimabad and booked under the anti-terror law, killing of two policemen and snatching their official rifles.
The raid was carried out by the police on the house of the former legislator, who was booked in a case (FIR 181/13) under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 397 (robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 at the Hyderi Market police station.
The FIR was lodged on behalf of the state.
The Investigation Officer (IO) had requested the court for a two week long remand, whereas Hashmi's counsel Shaukat Hayat had said that no evidence was available against his client and that the remand should therefore last no longer than three days.
Speaking to reporters outside the court today, Hayat said there was no need to send the former MPA on a week long remand, adding that no witnesses were named in the FIR against his client.
The counsel added that no arms and ammunition were seized from Hashmi during the raid on his residence.
Nadeem Hidayat Hashmi, 49, was elected an MPA in the 2013 by-election from a provincial assembly seat (PS-103) in North Nazimabad.

NOW this is the difference btw Wadera and COMMOM Man.. if he is affiliated to some Feudals then there wasnt any case against him and will b freed, but unfortunately he is Middle class common, so YES all rules are for him. No arms and ammunition were found, no witnesses were named in the FIR but still he is prisoned for NOTHING. This country is not for the common man. NO LAW/ NO Justice/ NO Protection.

If MQM is not to blame for any violence in Karachi then why Karachi was progressing before MQM took control of Karachi ? Another question is that did MQM resolved the domicile issue of urban citizens of Sindh - the core reason for MQM formation ? Biggest question needed to be answered is that who killed Hakeem Mohammed Saeed ? He was a very big personality and his killers are roaming free till this day.

If it is continue that way then do not forget the consequances will be terrible and after this those who are responsible for this operation will regreat for their life & coming generation of these people will curse them for their injustice.

If there is no evidence against the accused why did the court gave physical remand of 7 days? Injustice leads to violence not peace. Arbitrary use of force can work in short term but eventually it does not work. The operation in karachi must use force but it must be coupled with fairness and justice. Otherwise it will create more problems than it solves.

This is so disgusting. When ever there is an operation in Karachi they start targeting arresting innocent people. These MPA's of MQM works their heart out for the people of their area. I can guarantee this because I live in Karachi. They always help people of Karachi. There is a reason why we (people of Karachi) vote for MQM.

We need a leader who does not bring into account crocodile tears of MQM or any other party. The days of fascists are counted soon. The ill-prayers of innocent people, whose families are destroyed, will desolate them all one day. If they are wadera or urban terrorist, both are faces of the same coin. If the former use their money the later trigger their bullet to terrorise victim's family and witnesses, or completely remove them from the surface of the earth, like the recent cases of Shahzeb and the journalist are evident examples.

I don't think that the arrest of a "common man" can cause such a huge hue and cry in the city. What I am sure that such a "common man" has many other "common men" who burned vehicle and shutter downed shops and caused loss to the country worth billions of rupee. Such common men must be treated trickily. This is pity that we do find any witness against them due to moral bankruptcy.
