LAHORE, Sept 8: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafiq on Sunday paid a surprise visit to Mughalpura Workshops and various other places in the railways Lahore Division to ascertain the status of the organisation’s land.

During the inspection, the Sardar and the Khwaja also discussed ways and means to get the railway land vacated from occupants after holding a detailed survey.

The two also decided to ensure provision of sport facilities at the grounds and improve public parks and greenbelts within the jurisdiction of the Pakistan Railways in Lahore.

Mr Rafiq said that modalities to provide more facilities at the dwellings on railway land and matters pertaining to improve facilities at Cairn’s Hospital were also discussed.

Later presiding over a meeting at the PR headquarters, the minister directed the Mughalpura Workshops Divisional Superintendent to present within 15 days feasibility to increase the capacity of steel and other workshops of railways.

Expressing concern over the output and performance of steel workshop, the minister directed to ensure the supply of raw material to the workshop.
