Explosion in North Waziristan injures two soldiers

MIRAMSHAH: Two security officials were critically wounded on Sunday after a remote controlled explosion took place in North Waziristan, DawnNews reported.

According to security sources, a remote controlled explosive device, planted along the main Ghulam Khan Road, was detonated as a security convoy was travelling through North Waziristan's capital city of Miramshah, seriously wounding two security forces personnel.

Rescue and security forces reached the area after the incident.

The area was cordoned off as an investigation into the incident went underway.

In related news, an indefinite curfew was announced in the area, with shoot at sight orders against curfew violators given to soldiers.

In another incident, a militant was killed in clashes with security forces on Sunday, according to military sources.

While undertaking a routine patrol in North Waziristan, a security convoy came under fire from militants.

The resulting clashes killed one militant. No losses were reported by the security forces.

Security forces managed to diffuse a landmine before they cordoned off the area and began a search operation.
