THIS is apropos of Dr Mehmood Hussain’s letter ‘Remembering Maulvi Abdul Haq’ (Aug 28). It is indeed extremely regrettable that the death anniversary of Baba-i-Urdu Maulvi Abdul Haq went unnoticed. In fact, the services of Maulvi Abdul Haq for the cause and promotion of our national language are practically inexplicable.

Our electronic media failed to rise to the occasion. It even didn’t bother to present a special documentary or give an extensive coverage to this important event. This serious lapse on the part of our media is an unpardonable sin. Let us sincerely hope that it is not repeated in future.
