RAWALPINDI, July 11: A four-year-old boy, who drowned on Tuesday in Nullah Leh, was lying dead on the bank of Soan RiverThursday, police said.

Mohammad Mubeen, 4, the only son of Mohammad Wasim, a labourer, was playing outside his house in Mohanpura, located at the bank of Nullah Leh, when he slipped into the water and was swept away by the strong current.

After the little boy went missing, his parents, unaware of the fact that he might have slipped into the water, started search without involving the local police.

However, the police were informed on Wednesday after their efforts to trace him failed.

On Thursday at around 11:30am, some children playing near the bank of Soan River spotted a body floating on the surface of water. They informed their elders who called the police and emergency services Rescue 1122.

The little boy’s body was fished out of the water by the rescuers and shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.

Later the boy turned out to be Mohammad Mubeen who had been missing since Tuesday. The minor’s body was handed over to its parents after the postmortem. He was laid to rest in a local graveyard in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a dumper near Morgah, police said.

Ms Ruksana Kausar, 37, was crossing the road along with her son Rahim Ahmed when he was hit by a dumper killing him on the spot.
