THIS refers to the blocking of YouTube by the previous government. The new government must unblock YouTube and allow millions of Pakistani Internet users to access it.

YouTube is an informative and entertainment website. Moreover, daily hundreds of thousands of technicians visit the site and find guidance in their relevant fields. The former prime minister once directed the department concerned to reopen YouTube, but the site was again banned within hours. Since the government banned the website in September 2012, there does not seem to be any progress on filtration of the specified videos and links.

The blockade of the YouTube is contrary to the freedom of free access to information. Like other countries, the government must work out for a mechanism to filter abusive and blasphemous videos instead of blocking the whole website.
