DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 11: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Tuesday arrested the assistant district accounts officer, Dera Ismail Khan, red-handedly while taking bribe from a government employee for passing his arrear bills.

According to reports, Rs12,488 had been outstanding against one Abdur Razzaq of Khui Bahara. The official had told him that if he paid Rs1,000 he would get all arrear bills cleared by the district accounts office.

Abdur Razzaq brought the matter to the notice of Anwar Saeed Kundi, Assistant Director, Anti-Corruption Establishment, who gave him signed currency notes for payment to the official.

The ACE staff, headed by Mr Kundi, raided the accounts office while the concerned official, Mohammad Shakoor Khan, was receiving Rs1,000 bribe from Razzaq. Sher Afzal Khan, civil judge-I, recovered the amount from the possession of the accused and sent him to jail.

Another case was registered against Dera tehsildar, Khalid Saleem, and patwari, Abdul Hakim, for illegally transferring a piece of land, measuring 87 kanal and 17 marla, owned by one Khalid Aziz in village Kech, in the name of one Qayyam-ud-Din. The two accused are still at large.

Boy dies: A young boy Abdur Razzaq son of Abdur Rehman died when he was knocked down by a speeding tractor on Dera-Chashma road near Mandra Kalan on Tuesday.

He was coming home on his bicycle when the tractor (MI-2317) hit him. He died on the spot. The tractor driver escaped the scene. Sadder police have registered a case against the unidentified driver.
