THIS is apropos the well-researched article ‘Greed and desperation’ by Khurram Husain (June 27).

I read the article three times and tried to figure out the connection between the first few lines that said that President Zardari gave from one hand and took twice from the other, and the end of the article where the writer concludes that ‘President Zardari may not have engineered the entire phenomenon’.

The impression one gets from the article is that President Zardari is the cause of all ills in the country.

My question is: did Zardari order 40 years’ old mango trees to be chopped down from Vehari Chowk to the G.T. Road to build upper middle class bubble colonies with names like Paradise and Dreamworld?

Did Zardari order the digging of crater in Chenab basin about 100 or so feet and sell it to a trash disposal contractor in Shujabad?

This reminds me of a story. Two youngsters were fighting amongst each other. After some time, the crowd around them, which grew to a sizable proportion also, joined in beating one of the youngsters.

On the intervention by some elders to ascertain the reason why one of the youngsters was being beaten, one of the onlookers said that he did not know. Isn’t it time we stopped bashing President Zardari and moved forward?
