PESHAWAR: Two policemen were killed in a militant attack on a security check post on the main Ring Road on Peshawar’s outskirts.

The police control confirmed to Dawn.com that unknown motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on a security check post near Abbas Terminal in Pishtakhara, killing two police personnel on duty.

The assailants fled the scene and security forces were conducting a search operation in the area as the bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Station House Officer of Pishtakhara police station Sareer Khan also said unknown motorcyclists attacked the check post.

"We are conducting search operation," he added.

He said two personnel of Special Squad had been killed in the attack.
