RAWALPINDI, June 30: A teenage girl who went missing from her Girja Road house on Saturday night was found in the neighborhood after police launched a search for her early Sunday.

The police said the girl was taken to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) by Rescue 1122 to get her examined to ascertain if she had been sexually assaulted by the alleged kidnapper. A kidnapping case was registered by the police on the complaint of the girl’s father.

A sub-inspector (SI) investigating the case told Dawn that the girl’s father approached the police early Sunday after failing to trace his missing daughter.

The complainant said he had gone to visit his ailing father in a hospital on Saturday night when his wife called and informed him that their daughter had gone missing.

He rushed to his home at Mir Haider Colony and started searching his daughter. After failing to find a clue, he lodged a complaint with the police.

However, when the police visited the house and a large number of people gathered in the street, the girl appeared in a nearby ground.

The police said the girl in her statement said she was with a boy in a neighbouring house. She said she was terrified after hearing the hue and cry of her parents in the street and did not dare to come out. The boy managed to escape from the scene.

The police investigating officer said though a kidnapping case had been registered, the girl was taken to hospital to determine if she was sexually assaulted by the ‘kidnapper’.

He officer said according to the initial medical examination report, she had not been sexually assaulted.
