HYDERABAD, May 26: The banned Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) on Sunday staged rallies and demonstrations in Karachi, Hyderabad, Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze, Ghotki, Kambar Shahdadkot, Jamshoro, Tando Mohammad Khan and other towns against the recent killing of people belonging to the Sindhi, Katchhi, Kathiawari, Brohi and other communities.

In Hyderabad, JSMM activists staged a protest demonstration outside the local press club to condemn the killings.

Speaking to the protesters, Labaik Brohi, Ejaz Gahu and Murtaza Chandio vowed to protect every resident of Sindh.

They said the JSMM leadership was in high spirits regardless of “actions taken against it by state institutions”, adding that torture and killings of JSMM workers could not demoralise the party leadership.

Meanwhile, JSMM chairman Shafi Burfat, in a statement issued through an e-mail, alleged that ethnic groups, religious extremists, Lyari gangs and Aman Committee were involved in conspiracy hatched against the communities to stop Sindhis from investing their money in Karachi He said that a JSMM committee headed by Ustad Mohammad Rahimoo had been assigned the task of bridging the gap between these communities and ensuring their safety.

The JSMM would take practical measures for restoration of grabbed properties to the Katchhi community and challenge terrorists, he said.

Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: JSMM activists held a protest demonstration outside the Nawabshah Press Club, where Nadir Bhangwar and Haji Rind spoke to the participants.

They alleged that state agencies were killing innocent Sindhi, Katchhi, Borhi and Kathiawari community members living in Karachi.

He urged human rights organisation to take notice of the killings.
