Ali claims karate gold

ISLAMABAD, April 20 Ghulam Ali from Wapda clinched a gold medal in the individual kata on the opening day of the 19th National Karate Championship which started at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday.

An official of the Pakistan Karate Federation told Dawn, “Ghulam Ali has been holding the national individual title for the last seven years.”

Jawad Razai from Railways won silver medal while Mohammad Naeem from Punjab and Gul Zaman from Balochistan claimed bronze medals.

In the team event, Wapda claimed a gold medal.

In the above 84kg category, Majid Khan from Army won a gold while Agha Mohammad contended on silver.

Karamatullah Khan from Sindh and Asim Raza from Police secured bronze medals.
