Arsalan shines as Sialkot win

LAHORE, Nov 1 Arsalan Qadir scored twice to help Sialkot recover from 0-1 deficit to eventually record a 3-2 win over Peshawar in the second PHF Junior Super Hockey League match at the National Hockey Stadium.

Waqas Ahmed put Peshawar ahead scoring in the sixth minute.

Sialkot trailed the lead throughout the first half.

However, Arsalan put Sialkot ahead, scoring twice in a short span of three minutes -- scoring in 41st and 43rd minutes.

But Waqas Ahmed came to the rescue of Peshawar, scoring his second goal in the 46th minute.

Sialkot's Khurram Shahzad pulled the decider in the 50th minute to make it 3-2, which remained till the end of the match.

Meanwhile, the match between Lahore and Islamabad ended in a 1-1 draw.

Lahore's Adnan Aslam scored the first goal of the match in the 30th minute, converting a short penalty-corner.

Rana Jabbar levelled the score in the 56th minute for Islamabad.

In spite of taking a 1-0 lead in the first half, Karachi based colts eventually lost the match to Islamabad 2-1.

Shujaat Ali put Karachi ahead in the 20th minute, successfully converting a short penalty-corner.

Karachi maintained their lead till the end of the first half.

But early in the second half, Sabir Muhammad scored through a penalty-corner in the 40th minute to level the score for Islamabad.

Islamabad's Asif put his side ahead, converting a penalty-corner in the 58th minute.

Meanwhile, Peshawar thrashed Quetta registering a massive 7-0 triumph.

Muneeb Ur Rehman (23rd, 37th min), Aimal Rasheed (34th min), Absar Ahmad (41st min), Waqas Ahmad (50th, 60th min) and Khalid Musharaf (66th min) were the scorers for the winner.—PPI
