KARACHI, Oct 27 The International Boxing Association (AIBA) and the Asian Boxing Confederation (ABC) have given their approval for organising the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed International Boxing Tournament in 2010.

“The [boxing] event will be held here [in Karachi] at the Expo Centre from Jan 3 to 9,” the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) said on Tuesday.

Akram Khan, Secretary PBF, said they wanted to hold the event in October but on the advice of AIBA they postponed it, adding now it would be held on the dates allotted by the game's controlling body.

Akram said the President AIBA Dr Ching-Kuo Wu and chief of the ABC will visit Karachi to witness the semi-finals and finals of the Benazir Bhutto boxing event.—APP
