RAWALPINDI, May 3: The municipal services department on Friday asked constructions companies to stop dumping waste material in Leh Nullah otherwise it will issue violation penalties.

Commissioner of Municipal Services has imposed ban on dumping construction material in Leh Nullah since the last two years.

Executive District Officer Municipal Services Raja Muhammad Zaheer asked construction companies working on Sixth Road Flyover, Marrir Chowk and on various roads to stop dumping construction material on the banks of the nullah.

He further directed that cleanliness along the Islamabad Expressway must be maintained to save citizens from diseases especially dengue and malaria in the coming days.

The EDO Municipal services also reviewed arrangements for election duties by sanitary staff and asked that special arrangements should be made on Election Day to save voters and international observers from any sort of inconvenience.

He directed that desilting campaign would be launched for nullahs in the city before the start of monsoon season, so that rainwater does not cause damage to residents living in the adjoining areas.

District Officer Solid Waste Management Dr Mazhar Azeem informed the meeting that chief sanitary inspectors and supervisors would be on election duty.

Chief Sanitary Inspector Gulbaz Satti is expected to supervise sanitation work with the assistance of 20 sanitary workers deployed in each sector to ensure cleanliness on Election Day.—A Reporter
