KARACHI, Dec 28: A retired soldier was gunned down in Orangi Town on Wednesday night, police said.

They said the killing occurred in Faqeer Colony where Dilshad Khan was shot two bullets and he died on the spot. The victim was a resident of Noorani Mohallah Sector 10 in Orangi Town and hailed from Peshawar.

The police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

Area DSP Tariq Malick said that the killing seemed to be a result of personal enmity.

Meanwhile, seven suspects allegedly involved in street crime, including the snatching of US dollars in Clifton on Dec 20, were arrested on Wednesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the police carried out separate raids and picked up the suspects identified as Nazir, Nadeem, Arif, Qasim, Abid, Hidayatullah and Nadir in separate raids.

Six TT pistols, one Kalashnikov rifle and $300 were recovered from their possession, the SHO of the Frere police station said. He said that Abid and Hidayatullah were allegedly involved in snatching $18,000 from an employee of a foreign exchange company on Dec 20 in a Boat Basin area while the rest of the suspects were nominated in several street crime incidents.

The cases were registered against them and further investigation was in progress, the police officer added.
