LAHORE, Dec 2: The Nishtar Colony police arrested the owner of a factory and marriage hall for allegedly detaining and torturing a Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) sub-divisional officer (SDO).

The police recovered SDO Dastar Ali from the marriage hall near Masjid Ibrahim on Ferozepur Road and shifted him to Lahore General Hospital with multiple torture marks.

The police registered a case against the marriage hall owner and his two accomplices, who fled during the police raid.

Lesco executive engineer Tahir Mayo told Dawn that SDO Ali along with his staff visited the Star-Gate knitwear factory and adjoining marriage hall owned by Ahmad Chugtai to record reading of electricity meters installed outside both the properties in routine.

He said the SDO found that the electricity supply was being provided to both the marriage hall and the factory from one meter only.

On inquiry, the security staff of the two adjoining buildings took SDO inside where Ahmad Chughtai and his accomplices subjected him to torture, he said.

The executive engineer said that Chughtai and his accomplices also took photographs and made movie of the detained SDO to scandalise the matter as a girl was already present there.

He said the accused detained Lesco official there for four hours and also took his signatures and thumb impressions on documents at gunpoint to mislead the police and other authorities. — Staff Reporter
