LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM’s) Deputy Convenor, Dr Farooq Sattar met with PML-Q Chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and agreed on a new working relationship for national unity.

The consensus was reached at a meeting between PML-Q and MQM Co-ordination Committee comprising Babar Ghauri, Raza Haroon, Wasim Aftab and Iftikhar Akbar Randhawa held at PML-Q house.

Addressing on the occasion, Farooq Sattar said, “PML-Q and MQM were kingmaker parties since 1988 but now we have to play a role of king producers.”

He said that the get-together of both parties was itself a charter of democracy and both the parties would take practical measures in this regard.

Terrorism, unemployment and poverty are the major issues of Pakistan, said Sattar and added that it would be top priority of both parties to resolve the same.

He further added that local bodies system was indispensable for the promotion of democracy in the country and vowed to bring revolution for the elimination of the corrupt system in the country.

“MQM is in favour of election through peaceful balloting system but if anybody tried to create hurdle in making the system transparent, the people will come on roads like the people of Tunisia and Egypt,” he said.

Sattar thanked the PML-Q leadership for extending a warm welcome in Lahore and invited PML-Q, on behalf of MQM chief Altaf Hussain to attend public meeting of MQM on April 10 at Minar-e-Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the PML-Q chief Shujaat Hussain, while addressing the gathering, said that we would work with MQM only on one-point agenda for people's welfare.

He also demanded for the restoration of local bodies system in Punjab.

Hussain alleged the Punjab government was not paying full attention towards raising the living standard of the common man in the province.
