LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 19: An Anti-Corruption Estab-lishment (ACE) team caught a naib tehsildar of Tajori sub-tehsil taking bribe for verifying a land mutation and arrested him, an official told Dawn on Wednesday.

But as head of the family the complainant opposed paying a bribe. “On the request of ACE circle officer, the district and sessions judge deputed civil judge Muhammad Arshad Khan for conducting a raid,” the source said, adding that the complainant went to the naib tehsildar and gave him Rs2,000 marked currency notes as bribe for verification of land documents.

As soon as Mr Iqbal handed the bribe, a team of ACE accompanied by the civil judge raided the office of naib tehsildar and recovered the marked currency notes from his possession.

He said that Yasir Suleman had been arrested and a case registered against him. OUTLAWS HELD: Police arrested seven proclaimed offenders during separate raids here on Wednesday.

Lakki police official said that they had arrested one Gul Muhammad in Bhawali village in the limits of Dadiwala police station and recovered a Kalashnikov from his possession. He said that Gul was wanted in a murder case.

Three proclaimed absconders, including Dil Jan, Wahidullah and Badiullah, were arrested in Gandi Umar Chikar area.

The official said that another alleged outlaw Abdul Hamid, wanted to Tank police in attempted murder case, was arrested in Wanda Zalo area of Darra Pezu town.

He said that two proclaimed absconders Sardar Khan and Kiramatullah were apprehended in Wanda Shaikh Mansori and Gambila localities.

HEALTH SEMINAR: Health experts have called upon people to use nets and other precautionary measures to protect themselves from mosquito-borne diseases. They were speaking at a seminar on 'use of long-lasting insecticidal nets” arranged by the Directorate of Malaria Control Programme with the technical assistance of Association for Community Development (ACD) here in Kalan village on Wednesday.

Among others, EDO health Dr Abdul Ghaffar, DHQ hospital MS Dr Muhammad Ishaq, public health specialist Dr Hidayatullah, WHO district support officer Dr Rafiullah and other officials spoke on the occasion.

They said that children below five years of age and pregnant women were vulnerable to malaria and they should use anti-mosquito nets to save themselves from the disease.

They said that the health department would provide free of cost nets to residents at the specified outlets established in hospitals across the district.

They called upon people to visit hospitals for free malaria diagnostic and treatment facilities.
