WATAN CARDS: The Jamaat-i-Islami has threatened to launch protest against non-issuance of Watan Cards to the flood-affected people of Wanda Akhundan.

In this connection JI district secretary general Sabz Ali Naveed and information secretary Mohammad Jibran Sanan visited the flood-hit village and listened to the grievances of the affected families.

They said that the area was devastated by high flood in the Kurrum River, forcing local administration to set up a tent village for the affected people.

“The homeless residents of the village have not been provided Watan Cards,” they said. They added that Wanda Akhundan was the worst affected village in the entire district.

They said that people were being issued Watan Cards on recommendations of MPAs and local leaders of the ruling party. “This procedure deprived a large number of genuine and deserving people of the facility,” they alleged.

They demanded of the government to take notice of the miseries of Wanda Akhundaan and issue them Watan Cards as soon as possible.
