The Walk-a-Thon 2010 "Chal Utha Pakistan" held for flood relief at Sea View, Clifton, was organized by Marine Peace & Stimulus. The Walk-a-Thon was an attempt to show solidarity with the victims of the flood whose lives were devastated by the natural disaster. This is most rewarding to see the young as a part of civil society coming together for the flood victims, when the public authorites are ganging up as festering feudals for themselves. These young must physically reach these victims and help them to reinstall in their lives by setting up temporary scools for the future of their chidren.

Silent revolution is on its ways. We must realize that Pakistan, the land of pure; have poor population of ninety eight percent while about two percent are wealthy. Most corrupt of our society are in those two percent.
We need leader who is poor as well as well educated. He must have balance.

I am always confused with pakistanis, one side they talk about youth and revolution and seems like getting along with the developing world at the same time they have this hostile mentality and keep blaming other countries for their internal problems and support the government.

Mashallah. Now if we can get together against incompetent polititions and division among our nation whether it may be ethnic, secetarian or class, i beleive we have everything - all kind of talent - that is needed to uplift a country, only if the population of that country understands and utilizes those resources.

It is so lovely to see youth of Pakistan that much concerned about their country. But I wonder why the organizers have spend 100s of thousand rupees to make white T-Shirts with printed slogan ... they could have made it simpler.
Showing solidarity with flood affected people does not mean that you are wearing occasion oriented clothes but to spend the same amount of money for their welfare.
It looks cosmetic to me!

It was indeed pleasing to see young and bright youngsters. keep them free of prejuidices and prepare them to be master of the destiny of pakistan in their own way. I am sure pakistan will not only walk but will run and surpass all the faculties of human excellance. We all want a vibrant and forward looking neighbour on our west.

I am glad to see youth coming up for such a Noble Cause. But after revealing the back side of this picture. The walk covered a distance of mere 400 meters. I hope the community can work more on this. Not just to gather Youth to take a picture for getting sponsorship. Lets have a more broad vision and strategic plan.

Pakistan will be saved by its youth and its civil society. They WILL unite to fight the extremism and bigotry of the self appointed religious fanatics, the oppression imposed by corrupt politicians as well as by the self-serving feudals and tribal lords, and by the self seeking rich.

good job, needs to be emulated by more and more people of Pakistan. More important the rich and the wealthy need to come out and cough up some money now. Even foreign countries and UN is asking them to do so. It is a matter of shame.

This is sheer stupidity and a mockery in the face of people suffering. You don't walk to show any sort of solidarity with affected people you walk with them, you work with them, you console their wounds. It is apparent how well the funds will be used for this cause looking at the image. Walk-a-thon(s), street protests and other events like that are nothing more than a weekend excursion.

This is indeed a good initiative by these Youth. We should apprecaite that our nation is united to help under previllage and victims of flood.
I think profit making organization should come up and participate in such events as their Corporate Social Responsibility.
Now the Pakistan really needs to wake up now! Chalo Uthao Pakistan ko...people are still sleeping.

It's a Walkathon; sponsored walk and is a type of community or school fundraiser in which participants raise money by collecting donations or pledges for walking a predetermined distance or course.

The best aspect of the walk was Bonding of the Karachiites.
People from all communities, cultures, sects and religions
were all united together under one platform - and that is the need of the hour.It shows that we are One people - One Nation !

its good to show a sympathy with flood victims, but it is tyrannous to made them handicap. govt. and ngo's must paid them enough or help them out to start their business or work again. Catching a fish for a hungry person is good, but its better to educate him how to catch a fish.........
