KARACHI: The Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has received country’s first 55,000 tonnes low sulphur diesel from Kuwait.

The new low sulphur diesel product with 500ppm, as opposed to 10,000ppm that the existing local diesel products from Karachi-based refineries contain, is the first and only Euro II compliant diesel to be shortly available in the Pakistani market.

CEO and MD PSO, Sheikh Imran-ul-Haq, in a statement, said the company had already introduced LNG in 2015 and RON 92/95 petrol in Nov 2016.

He said low sulphur diesel is expected to significantly improve the air quality and vehicle performance. The resultant emission reductions of hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen by use of low sulphur diesel will improve the country’s environment.
