LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday gave a green signal for setting up an ‘Anti-Corruption Agency’ in the province as an independent and autonomous institution.

Presiding over a meeting regarding improving performance of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) here, he formed a high-level committee for recommending legal steps against corrupt practices.

He ordered a study on the best world model for the anti-corruption agency and hiring international consultants for the purpose.

He also sought use of information technology for improving performance of the anti-corruption staff.

The chief minister said a road map containing short, medium and long-term steps to check corruption should be prepared in three weeks and inquiries be completed within the stipulated time.

ACE Director General retired Brig Muzaffar Ali Ranjha briefed the meeting about the working of his department.
