BHC issues arrest warrants for Musharraf in Akbar Bugti murder case

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday issued bailable arrest warrants for former president Pervez Musharraf in a case pertaining to the alleged murder of former Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.

A divisional bench of BHC passed this order during hearing of review petition challenging acquittal of the former president by an Anti-Terrorism Court in the case.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Zaheeruddin Kakar heard a review petition filed by Nawabzada Jamil Bugti, the son of Akbar Bugti.

The counsel of former president Pervez Musharraf, Akhtar Shah pleaded in front of the court that although his client respects the court, he cannot appear before the court due to 'security reasons'.

However, Bugti's lawyer complained that despite repeated orders the former president Pervez Musharraf has failed to appear before the court.

The court ordered that the administration should ensure provision of security to the former president while he appears in court.

Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed in an operation in Balochistan's rugged mountains of Taratani in Kohlu district on August 26, 2006.

Bugti had led an armed campaign to press for provincial autonomy and a greater share of profits from Balochistan’s natural resources.

The death of the Baloch chieftain had sparked angry protests in parts of the country.

He Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti died or was killed in action during his act of war against the State of Pakistan. He died trying to kill soldiers of Pakistan army. So Mr. Bugti junior need to understand and move on.

No one knows the true facts behind the incident. Akbar Bugti was not blame free either and should not have been fighting his own mini war.

Corruption is rampant in Pakistan and terrorism have destroyed the entire fabric of Pakistani life and are even existential threat to Pakistan. Yet democracy is not at all the cause of these maladies; rather it is the only cure that is relieving and has relieved Pakistan to A large extent at least of one disease namely terrorism. That achievement has been possible due to the dedicated effort of the greatest general Pakistan has ever seen. General Sharif, a man of great honor, did deliver so much simply because at heart he is a true democrat and a constitutionalist who never got tempted by the glittery trappings of power despite popular but foolish calls to take over. Pakistan today is in the horrible mess that it is not because of democracy but because of despicable ravenous ambition of few generals who subverted will of people and their oath. It was a politician & a democrat who created Pakistan

Senior Pakistani politicians should shun opportunism, and especially avoid turning a extremist into a national hero. No other state in the world could have tolerated half the activities that Mr.Bugti has been allowed to do in the past years.

Sardar Bugti was happy when he was Governor, Sardar, Chief, and collecting Millions of Rupee from petroleum companies, dozen of pick up truck from different companies. He never built a school, college, or madarsa in his area. Army built a high standard school, cadet college in his area.

@kiamal Pasha Yes many are staying out of very dear Pakistan because of not only political victimization but also because of great dangers to life, honor and property and hundreds of incompetent, are living here, enjoying undeserved pleasures because of nepotism and favoritism. But all this havoc and injustice is rooted not in democracy but military adventurism of few generals who unfortunately were not of the selfless honorable mould and mind of the great retiring general Raheel Sharif. May God bless him and his loved ones ever and eternally.

Akbar Bugti was not murdered, he had fled to the mountains with some followers and had "mined" the entrance of the cave where he was hiding. When army personnel went there to arrest him, those mines exploded killing several army soldiers along with Akbar Bugti inside the cave. In fact he was responsible for killing the soldiers.

I am sad of the indcident killing Nawab Sahib. RIP NAWAB A BUGTI. At the same time I respect the right of the ruling junta to rule the country without their writ to be challenged in the form Nawab sahib was doing.
