PESHAWAR: A police constable was killed while another wounded when unidentified gunmen attacked them in suburbs of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital, a huge quantity of terror-related arms and ammunitions were also recovered from two different places in the province on Saturday.

SSP Operations Najibur Rehman told Dawn.com that both policemen were fired upon while eating out near Bakhshu Pul area in the jurisdiction of Thana Khazana Police Station.

He said Constable Siraj Gul died on the spot while Akhtar Ali was taken to a local hospital in time and was now out of danger.

Rehman lamented that police personnel are deployed at spots where they can become easy target of the terrorists due to lack of protective gear including helmet and bullet-proof jackets.

He, however, added that morale of the police was high and they were performing their duties with great enthusiasm.
