No harm no foul, people have done greater damage to pakistan than musharaff

This man belongs in the President or Prime Minister House and not in Jail/Gallows, and the people in the President and Prime Minister House belong in Jail. But then again since when is anything right side up in Pakistan.

The vital question is who will bring Musharraf to the court,unless he decides to appear in the court on his own.

An honest and patriotic leader of the country is being treated so disrespectfully by our courts.

Excellent order passed by honourable court..Army should surrender this super culprit..and accept rule of law.He should not be treated as only sacred person in the universe.

I think the simple fact is the corrupt leaders of Pakistan want to make it clear that their corrupt rule should not be challenged by the army...the last 6 years of so called DEMOCRACY has put Pakistan on a cliff edge.If the army do not intervene at such stages then might as well kiss bye to our beloved country!!

rules if broken for betterment of people then its justifiable, he has done no physical harm as such, he want to remain in seat as he wanted better for this country and for that he had to break few laws.so what breaking those laws didnt affect common man.then what the fuss about .give the man respect for what he has done, atleast for myself i was getting good increments annually during his tenure and life seemed good.now its since he is gone , i have to start borrowing around 20ith of each month. that organization doing polls i wonder where are they. read comments for having a good idea for Musharaff respect in peoples heart

Present leadership has to face the same fate. History will repeat itself. Nawaz Sharif should withdraw case if he is the well-wisher of Pakistan otherwise consequences will be drastic for the country. Egypt is the recent example.

Good decision - no more sacred cows please! Let the law take its course without any consideration to individual's past position. We are in this mess because we never made example of who broke the law and ruled the country illegally and unlawfully for years, on the basis of physical power, that is, military!

Musharraf had thrown out Nawaz Sharif in a coup and exiled him. Why did he come back at a time when everyone knew that his enemy will win the elections and become PM? Or is it that Pakistan will have yet another coup?

The court has shown extreme patients in this case. For that I congratulate them. However, the government must show some strength in ensuring the conclusion of the trial. I don't want any part of my hard earned income (deducted as tax by the government) to be spent on a culprit's security.

top priority of our gov and courts is to prosecute an honest man for article 6. and let people die in bombs hunger gang wars rapes. kudos to media people and gov

Who obeyed the orders from Washington and handed over people to USA to rot in Gautanamo Bay without trial? Who treated the constitution of Pakistan as a trash? Who gave permission to USA to attack innocent Pakistanis and destroy homes and villages through US drones? Who conducted military operations and bombed Pakistanis in Northern Pakistan? Who gave a signal to the people of Pakistan that Might is Right. Shall I go on?

@Tahir: Our Army is much better than Eygptian Army they are just giving chnace to the corrupt politician to get right otherwise they will definitely step in. Musharraf has done nothing wrong he has not usurped a single penny from the Pakistan government account. He was an honest sipahey who worked hard and come up to the general level it was Nawaz Shareef who forced him to promulgate Martial. Honestly speaking instaed of Musharraf the treason case should be against Nawaz Shareef who created the situation for Martial law.

Somewhere in time , I see the likes of these judges put in prison along with the mentors for ever and then I see a progressive Pakistan

President Pervez Musharraf is the most honest leader in comparison to all the current leaders, it is a shame to even compare. Not one corruption case on him! Corrupt leaders with corrupt judges all the save saving the corrupt system. Nice try I truely wish for Marshal law rather than this democracy or shall I say democrazy! Long live Pak Armed Forces, long live President Musharraf and long live Pakistan Army. Pakistan Zindabad!

This man led to kargil and lot of lives were lost. he should spend his life in jail.......without fail!!

We have been seeing this charade for the past 8 months. Musharraf continues to evade the court appearance and all this time the judges did nothing to order his arrest. In most countries, indictment is not dependent on the accused's physical appearance. He is served his charges by a special courier. They hand the paper either to the accused or anyone else responsible that the court deems acceptable. After that failure to appear in court results in immediate arrest. Bur here we are, still waiting for justice to be carried out, while his lawyers make a monkey of the whole proceeding with baseless excuses. By Musharraf's own admission he subverted the constitution, which is high treason. It is about time we convict this thug and send him to the gallows

Killing is going on in the country. Some have rejected the constitution altogether. Some have murdered thousands. Some have be headed soldiers. Some escaped Lal Masjid in Burqa, responsible for 100 deaths. No case of treason against them.

Also if you are talking about drone attacks, have they stopped during Zardari or Nawaz regime? These terrorists have to be rooted out. You country was great economically, nobody was looting any wealth and you were prosperous. These politicians made you forget all that by shouting democracy which in reality does not even exist in Pakistan.

The quality of judiciary started deteriorating after 70s and declined rapidly after Zia-ul-Haq assumed power. The present higher courts clearly show the pathetic condition. The excessive bullying by the higher court after Iftikhar Chaudhry was reinstated is almost comical. His some much publicized suo motu initiatives were reasonable but the court remained largly silent when rights of the minorities and women were at issue. The present cases against Mr. Pervez Musharraf are clearly politically initiated and have no merit at all. However, the judges are acting as if they have to settle personal vendetta against him. The new prime-minister Mr. Nawaz Sharif's decision to intiatiate such cases against Mr. Musharraf show his absolute lack of leadership. One of the marks of a great leader is his magnanimity toward his enemies that has always helped nations to reconcile and move forward. In this regard Musharraf showed his calibre by forgiving Nawaz as well as Zardari. It was because of the pardons these two received that they came back to power. If Musharraf was a mean person he could have hanged all of them.

There is a lesson for our military here: Don't use the excuse of "Corrupt" politicians to impose military rule like the rule Zia and Musharraf imposed on Pakistan. Let the limping democracy prevail, it will eventually find checks and balances on its own, and only then will the country succeed. We are weak as a nation - we can't let democracy find its way. Look at all the democratic societies of the world, and notice that their military stays out politics, which is the reason why their weak democracies eventually succeeded. Have patience folks - give democracy a chance.

Fail to understand why Musharraf was not charged while he was in power. The cheif justice should have taken a Suo motu then. What kept the Judges silent then and what make them speak now. Is our justice system autonomous. Are they being played around just like the dirty politics in Pakistan

@Nasr: I don't defend them either, but to be honest they have not been that sacred unlike our military dictators. One way or another they do face the common people every five years, and if people chose them to lead them, fair enough, face them then. On the other hand, military dictators are not accountable to anyone. They cannot justify overthrowing an elected government to eradicate corruption and then join hands with those very corrupt politicians (like PML (Q)) to just extend their illegal tenure. 10 years is a long enough time to eradicate corruption, what did he leave us with? Zardari! why because he tried his last chance to extend his tenure through NRO, but couldn't succeed either. I don't say democracy is a perfect system, but so far no other system has been so successful than democracy. In a nutshell, if you let Musharraf go without any punishment, what message are you giving to cadets at PMA? It is, if you get a chance to become the COAS, why not become the president for a decade, your previous peers did that and not a single one was prosecuted for doing it. Why not rule the country like a king of kings?? If you still support Musharraf, then please abolish all the institutions and laws, and there should only be one institute in Pakistan i.e. Army, and every 18-year-old must be provided a job in army with all the privileges. There won't be any judges to challenge you, just army courts, army banks, army DHAs, army universities, army hospitals, army factories, by the army for the army!

I am one of the well wishers of Musharaf. I find it tragic that one of our best leaders is being treated shamefully by a currupt leader who probably does not even know how to read and write. But I believe in Allah is watching from the top, and one day Musharaf will be back. Unfortunately,people are so ignorant that they can not judge who is good for them. One Iftar party can earn their vote. If there is an organization in the country that wants to work for the release of Musharaf, I am willng to volunteer for them. In the end I must say these judges and so called scholars are the most currupt gentry in our country.

Someone needs to step forward and put an end to this EXTREME injustice and release General Musharraf from the cronies of Nawaz Sharif and try the latter for the HIGHEST treason in Pakistan's history! After all Nawaz was the one trying to forcefully send the COAS to enemy territory! You will see what Nawaz's fate will be!

Nawaz and Zardari broke more laws for God's sake!
