WITH its 49th anniversary, the state-run Pakistan Television has entered its golden jubilee year.

A journey that began nearly five decades ago is now reaching another milestone very fast.

Since its inception, the people associated with it ensured the quality and production value of the programmes telecast by it, which lasted for a long span of time.

But now since the last couple of years, the quality check on PTV programmes seems to be less strict as is quite evident from their poor production value.

It is unfortunate that an institution that has a glorious past is neither proving to be a role model for other TV channels nor is it trying to regain its viewership.

PTV must find out the causes of the decline and take some serious attempts to restore its lost glory.
