LAHORE, Nov 24: A 23-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her home in Tajpura on Sunday.
The police shifted the body for autopsy after suspecting that the victim was hit by a bullet.
The police were called to a house by Falaksher who claimed that his daughter, Nadia, had shot herself in the head. The police seized the body and lifted forensic evidence. A police investigator said the victim received a bullet in the head from left side and the bullet came out of the head from right side, which showed that the woman did not shoot herself.
He said circumstantial evidence suggested that the girl was asleep at the time of shooting and that the empty shell was recovered beside the body on the bed.
The investigator further said the pistol was the property of a friend of the victim’s brother. He said the police would wait for the outcome of autopsy report to initiate further action. He said no one from family was taken into custody for the time being as the police initially believed in what the family stated.
In another incident, the North Cantonment police said a 50-year-old man was gunned down by two motorcyclists near Saddar roundabout. The police said Shaukat was going somewhere when he was attacked apparently by his rivals.
The victim was on bail in connection with a case in which he shot at and injured a man at Lal Kurti. The police shifted the body for autopsy and began investigation.

Nishtar Colony Station House Officer Ahmad Usman Majeed said a police team raided a place in Umer Town near Glaxo Stop in early hours of Sunday on a secret information that gambler Rana Zulfiqar was present there.
He said police took Zulfiqar, his brother and 21 others into custody. The SHO said Zulfiqar would gamble on cricket matches, cards and throwing dice at three to four places. He said a case under different sections of Gambling Act 1978 was registered.
PHP: The Punjab Highways Patrol claim to have seized a non-registered motorcycle following crossfire with some armed suspects and arrested narcotics peddlers in Bahawalpur sector.
According to a release issued on Sunday, patrolling officers signalled two motorcyclists to stop who opened fire on officials. Officials retaliated and chased them. The suspects dropped the motorcycle and managed to flee by taking advantage of darkness.
In other acts, PHP officials recovered eight litre liquor from Javed, Ali Raza, Naseem Abbas, Shahid and Sajid Husain; 27 grams charas from Muhammad Riaz and a 30-bore pistol, three bullets, 15 cartridges of 12-bore rifle from Idrees and Abid.
