MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Inland Revenue Department collected a record Rs70.66 billion in revenue during 2025-26, exceeding its target of Rs66bn by Rs4.66bn, despite what officials described as difficult financial circumstances.

Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Friday honoured officers and staff of the department for the performance, presenting them with honorary shields, cash rewards and certificates of appreciation at a ceremony at PM House.

The PM complimented the department and said that its revenue collection beyond the prescribed target had played a significant role in strengthening the state’s financial stability. He expressed hope that the department would maintain the same standard of performance in the future.

The ceremony also recognised progress in the digitisation of the Inland Revenue Department during the financial year.

Secretary Inland Revenue/Chairman AJK Central Board of Revenue Muhammad Younis Mir, Commissioner Inland Revenue North Zone Basil Siddique and Commissioner Inland Revenue South Zone Syed Ansar Ali congratulated the officers and staff on the department’s performance and urged them to continue working with the same dedication and commitment.

Chief Secretary Khushal Khan, Finance Secretary Hassan Masood and Secretary AJK Central Board of Revenue Dr Shazia Habib were also present.
