GUJAR KHAN: Police arrested a man accused of killing his sister in the name of honour on Saturday over her marriage of choice in Ayub Kiani Town on Sukho Road, Gujar Khan.

According to police, the accused allegedly shot his sister after becoming enraged over her decision to marry a man of her choice. The incident took place on Thursday night.

A case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, who told police that his daughter had left home in January 2026 and married a man of her choice. The couple had subsequently been living in Karachi.

According to the FIR, the accused brother had brought his sister and her husband back from Karachi a few days before the incident, and the couple had started living in a rented house in Ayub Kiani Town.

The victim’s father stated that he, along with his wife and son, reached the house on Thursday night to meet his daughter.

On entering the house after hearing loud noises, he allegedly saw the accused beating her sister. The accused then reportedly took out a 30-bore pistol and fired, hitting her on the right side of the chest. The victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound and died at the scene, while the accused fled the spot.

Police reached the scene after being informed about the incident and shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Gujar Khan, for postmortem.

The body was later handed over to the family after completion of medico-legal formalities. Police also collected evidence from the crime scene.

ASP Syed Danial Hassan confirmed that police had arrested the accused on Saturday after using technical and human intelligence sources.

He said the accused would be challaned before the court on the basis of solid evidence and efforts would be made to ensure that he received the punishment prescribed by law.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 302 and 311 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s father.
