ISLAMABAD: After waiting for the resumption of development work in Green Enclave-I, the allottees of the long-delayed Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) project have decided to launch a series of protests.

They said repeated assurances by the authority had failed to produce any tangible result.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Core Committee of Green Enclave-I allottees, which reviewed the latest situation and expressed serious disappointment over the failure to meet commitments made by senior FGEHA officials.

The first protest of the new campaign will be held in the last week of August outside the FGEHA headquarters. The allottees said they would initially concentrate their demonstrations outside the authority’s offices, but could later expand it to other locations, including the National Press Club and D-Chowk, if their demands continued to be ignored.

Say repeated assurances by FGEHA failed to produce result even after 17 years

The decision follows an earlier protest staged by the allottees outside the FGEHA headquarters on June 11, 2026. The demonstration was called off after senior FGEHA officials assured the protesters that the matter related to Green Enclave-I would be placed before the executive board and that efforts would be made to resume development work.

Following the protest, representatives of the allottees also met FGEHA Director General retired Capt Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, who briefed them on the pending issues and assured the delegation that efforts were underway to resolve the matter. The allottees were subsequently assured that a positive development would emerge regarding the resumption of infrastructure work before Independence Day.

However, according to the core committee, the promised has not materialised.

Chaudhry Amjad Ali, who leads the Green Enclave-I allottees, said the latest assurance had also failed despite the patience shown by the affected members.

“We were assured that the allottees would hear good news on or before Independence Day. Unfortunately, this assurance has also gone unfulfilled, just like the previous ones,” he said.

Mr Amjad said the allottees had now decided that further waiting without concrete action was no longer an option. “We are going to launch a series of protests. Our first protest will be held in the last week of August in front of the FGEHA building,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention that the Green Enclave-I housing scheme was launched in 2009 and thousands of government employees invested their savings in the project. Despite payment of installments and additional charges, the development of the project remains incomplete and possession of plots has not been delivered even after nearly 17 years.

Chaudhry Ahsanul Haq, another member of the core committee, said the allottees had already exhausted several institutional avenues.

“We have exhausted other channels, including the federal ombudsman and the Senate standing committee, but the issue is still unresolved,” he said. The committee demanded immediate action on the pending executive board approval, resumption of infrastructure development and a clear, time-bound schedule for completion and possession. It warned that the new protest campaign would continue until assurances were translated into visible progress on the ground.
