MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has extended the deadline for voter registration and revision of electoral rolls for the forthcoming 2026 Legislative Assembly polls.

According to an official statement issued here on Monday, the revision process — which began on March 24 — covers 33 constituencies across 10 districts of AJK, as well as 12 constituencies reserved for refugees from Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir settled in Pakistan.

The last date for voter registration has been extended from April 7 to April 13 to facilitate eligible citizens who have yet to enrol in the electoral rolls, the commission added.

It urged all residents of the state who had not yet registered as voters to ensure their inclusion in the electoral lists within the extended deadline.

The commission said the revision and updating process for electoral rolls of both categories of refugees settled in Pakistan — including refugees from Jammu and those affected by the Mangla Dam extension as well as those from the Kashmir Valley — had also been extended to April 13.

Refugees who have not yet registered have been advised to complete their enrolment by submitting their computerised national identity cards (CNICs), along with proof of Kashmiri origin. Their votes will be registered in the relevant category based on the permanent address mentioned on their CNICs.

On Thursday, the AJK Election Commission issued a fresh schedule for the preparation, revision and correction of electoral rolls. According to a notification, the final electoral rolls will be published on April 30.
