Woman, kid among four die in three accidents

BAHAWALPUR: Four persons, including a young woman and a minor boy, died in three separate incidents in the Bahawalpur district on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122, in the first incident, two youths, identified as Makki (19) and Muhammad (21), were killed when their motorcycle No GTK-3297 was hit by a speeding truck (Z-3092) on Kotlla Musa Khan Road near Ahmedpur East.

A Rescue 1122 team, arriving at the scene shifted the bodies to hospital.

The truck driver fled away before police arrived there.

Police registered a case against the driver.

In the second incident, a woman, Ms Aamin (18), and her relative Fayyaz died after the motorcycle they were riding slipped on road due to rain.

In the third incident, a six-year-old boy, identified as Umar was electrocuted when he touched a faulty pedestal fan at Khanqa Sharif.

A Rescue 1122 team called to the scene declared the boy dead and later handed over his body to his parents.

SUSPECTS KILLED: The counter terrorism department (CTD) and police claimed that three suspects were killed in two police “encounters” in Mian Channu.

According to Mian Channu police, Khanewal district police traced two unidentified suspects allegedly involved in the murder of one Ghulam Farooq, with the help of CCTV footage and human intelligence.

As a police team conducted a raid on a premises at Lal Chowk , Miachannu, to arrest the suspects, they opened fire on the policemen.

Following a crossfire between the police and the suspects, the police found bodies of two alleged dacoits.

The police claimed the suspects were killed in the firing by their own accomplices, who fled away.

Police say they are trying to ascertain the identity of the suspects.

In the second incident an alleged dacoit, Ghulam Abbas, was killed in an ‘encounter’ near Baigniwali pull flood dyke in Shujabad.

A snatched motorcycle and arms were recovered from the suspect, the police claimed.
