UN says Israeli raids destroyed water supply for 35,000 Palestinians in Jenin

Israeli forces destroyed roads, water and sewage systems during recent extensive raids on Kafr Dan, in the Jenin refugee camp, and eastern Jenin, the UN humanitarian agency, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said.

According to Al Jazeera, OCHA reported that 45 homes were left “completely uninhabitable” by Israeli forces, displacing 297 people, including 102 children.

In it’s latest update, the organisation said that Israeli bulldozers and heavy machinery tore up approximately 25 kilometres of roads, about 70 per cent of all the city’s roads.

The destruction of the roads also damaged underlying water and sewage pipes, leaving approximately 35,000 residents without a water supply since August 28, it said.

The damage has also led to “sewage overflows” in the camp and surrounding neighbourhoods, it added.
