Biden, Macron express sorrow, ‘shock’ over deaths of Israeli hostages in Gaza

US President Joe Biden has said he was “devastated and outraged” by Israeli hostages’ deaths in Gaza, but told reporters he was “still optimistic” a deal could be reached.

According to AFP, the Biden administration has been leading ceasefire mediation efforts along with Qatar and Egypt.

Calling for an end to the Gaza conflict, French President Emmanuel Macron said he felt “shock and indignation” at the killing of the six hostages.
