Jordan’s Foreign Ministry has warned that an escalation in southern Lebanon could have massive regional repercussions, “especially in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza”, Al Jazeera reports.

“We emphasise the importance of supporting Lebanon, its security, stability and the safety of its people and institutions,” ministry spokesman Sufian Al Qudah said.

In a statement on X, he added, “We stress the need for a concerted effort to reduce the escalation and protect the region from sliding into a wider war. We also stress the need for effective international mobilisation to secure an immediate cessation of hostilities on Gaza.”
