Mediators meet in Cairo in effort to resolve gaps on Gaza truce proposal
Two Egyptian security sources have said that US and Israeli delegations have started a new round of meetings in Cairo aimed at resolving differences over a truce proposal to end more than 10 months of fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, Reuters reports.
Egyptian and US officials had met to seek compromises over plans for providing security on the border between Egypt and Gaza following an Israeli military withdrawal demanded by Hamas, the sources said.
The proposals were due to be presented to Israeli officials later today, with a Qatari delegation due to join on Friday, they added.
