RAWALPINDI: A man allegedly strangled his ailing wife and then surrendered himself before the police after confessing to committing the crime.

According to Sub Inspector Waqar Haider, he was on duty alongside his subordinates on Tuesday night when Jan Mohammad Khan came to them and confessed that he had strangled his wife, Jan Bibi, whom he claimed was mentally ill.

He told police that he had gotten offended over his wife’s attitude towards him and strangled her with her dupatta. Police said they took Jan to his house and found his wife’s body lying on the floor and her dupatta wrapped around her neck.

Later, Jan was taken into custody by the police and the deceased was shifted to the hospital for autopsy.
