TAXILA: Fatehjang police have arrested a man for allegedly abducting and attempting to assault a minor girl on Tuesday.

A rickshaw driver reported to the police that his six-year-old daughter was playing with other girls outside her house when a man from the same locality took her to a nearby dam and attempted to assault her. As the girl voiced alarm, people gathered and apprehended the suspect.

The suspect was later handed over to the police who sent him behind bars after registration of a case against him. The police said the suspect was earlier arrested on the charges of assaulting a minor boy a few years ago and was on bail.
