Missing journalist recovered after 10 days

ISLAMABAD: A Lahore-based journalist, Anisur Rehman, who had gone missing on June 10 under mysterious circumstances, was recovered from a locality in Islamabad on Thursday night.

This was stated by the secretary general of the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), Asif Bhatti, in a statement.

Mr Bhatti said that he and other office-bearers of the RIUJ had been making efforts to get an FIR registered over the matter when the police informed them that the journalist had been found from a locality in Islamabad.

Mr Bhatti said they were yet to get details from the journalist about his mysterious disappearance.

Earlier, in a joint statement, PFUJ president Shahzada Zulfiqar and secretary general Nasir Zaidi had urged the authorities to track down the journalist and direct the police to lodge an FIR against people involved in his abduction.

Mr Rehman, editor of Nida-i-Millat magazine, had reportedly received a phone call in which he was asked to receive his due payment for translation he did for someone. He visited the Diplomatic Enclave on June 10 and had since been missing.
