Tight security arrangements for Quetta’s church

QUETTA: All is set for Christmas services and prayers on Monday (today) at the Bethel Memorial Methodist Church which experienced a suicide bombing and gun attack a week ago, leaving 10 people dead and 56 others injured.

The main worship hall of the church was badly damaged in the blast but renovation was completed by Sunday evening.

“We have made temporary repair in the main hall to hold Christmas prayers,” Pastor Simon Bashir, in charge of the church, told Dawn.

He was leading the Sunday Mass inside the church when suicide attackers stormed the building.

He said Christmas this time would be celebrated in a simple way because of the tragic incident.

“Prayers and other worship programmes would be started as usual at midnight,” said Mr Bashir.
