QUETTA: Progress on the first phase of the Sui Master Plan, comprising illuminated roads, bus and truck terminals, stadium, and other essential civic facilities, was reviewed at a meeting, chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, on Tuesday.

It was noted during the meeting of key provincial officials, project stakehol­ders, and representatives from Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) that all the projects would be jointly funded by the provincial government and PPL on a 50:50 basis, ensuring rapid completion and significant improvement in urban infrastructure.

CM Bugti directed the officials that no compromise would be allowed on construction quality, warning that firms or individuals found responsible for substandard work would face strict legal action. He emphasised that Sui must be developed into a modern civic city, with visible progress distinguishing the current government’s two-year tenure from the past five decades.

He reiterated that providing basic civic amenities to the people of Sui is a top government priority. Offic­ials were instructed to treat the projects not mer­ely as development sche­m­­es but as a noble cause of pu­­blic service. The chief minister urged officers to take personal interest and responsibility in monitoring the projects to ensure timely delivery of high-quality facilities to the public.

The meeting was briefed that the construction of illuminated roads, a modern sewerage system, Mir Ghulam Qadir Bugti Stad­ium, a ladies park, bus terminal and truck stand, and other essential civic facilities were part of the Sui Master Plan’s first phase.

MNA Mian Khan Bugti, PPL board members, Sibi division commissioner, Dera Bugti-South deputy comm­issioner, and Sui Mu­­ni­ci­pal Committee chair­m­­an Ezzat Aman Bugti joi­ned the meeting via video link.
