ISLAMABAD: International Cricket Council (ICC) President Zaheer Abbas on Thursday said the morale of the green-shirts is all pumped-up after a 3-0 victory in the T20 series against West Indies and predicted another whitewash in the forthcoming ODI series against the Caribbeans.

Pakistan whitewashed West Indies in the three-match T20 series.

Pakistan will play three ODIs and as many as Tests against West Indies. The ODI series will be played from September 30 while the Test series will begin from October 13.

Talking to APP, the Asian Bradman, Zaheer Abbas, said the green-shirts should not have any problem in beating West Indies in the ODI series as the players have already proved their metal during the T20s.

“The players put up a fantastic show in the T20 series, therefore hopes are very high for the ODI series,” said the former batsman.

Abbas also said T20 Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is doing extremely well in the shorter format of the game.

He praised the Pakistani spinners and said spinners would play a vital role in the upcoming ODI series.

"Youngsters need to be given more chances in the ODI series against West Indies," said Abbas while talking about the poor performance of the national side ODI series against England.

“You cannot change the whole team or captain at once," he said, adding that we need to give them time and the captain should learn from the previous mistakes.

Speaking about Shahid Afridi's farewell match, Abbas said it is a matter between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the all-rounder.

Responding to a question about Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur's statement regarding no question of playing cricket with Pakistan, he said the day is not far when all countries will tour Pakistan to play cricket series.
