Karachi's honour killing accused booked under terror charges

KARACHI: Mominabad police on Friday booked an accused of honour-killing over terror charges and also arrested his father over abettment to commit the crime.

The accused Hayat Khan had stabbed to death his 18-year old sister Sumaira at their Fareed Colony residence in Orangi Town on Wednesday, alleging her of talking to some stranger at her home’s doorstep.Hayat was handed over for remand in police custody on Thursday.

The police on Friday also arrested the suspect’s father, Inayat and added Section 109 (punishment of abatement if the act abetted committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment) of Pakistan Penal Code, said SSP Investigation West Zone Akhtar Farooq.

The move came after Inayat Khan, Hayat and Sumaira's father, had told local media "what is done is done" and said he forgave his son.

The officer revealed that the police have also included 7-ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997) against the accused.

The SSP Farooq said that they have booked the honour-killing accused under terror charges because a video was released, which showed that a large number of people have gathered at the crime scene where the girl was lying in pool of blood.

Two children were also seen weeping. The incident created fear and terror among the people at large, thus 7-ATA has been involved against the accused.
